Hashicorp Terraform Cloud MCP connector

Connect Hashicorp Terraform Cloud to Elaichi and Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and any MCP client can list, create, lock, unlock and update your Terraform Cloud workspaces, organizations and teams, with every call logged to a named person.

  • How it connects. Connects with an API key. The credential goes into a vault nobody reads back.

  • One address. https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp, the same for every user.

  • Their own access. An agent never gets more than the person it acts for.

How to connect

  3. Paste a Hashicorp Terraform Cloud API key. One person generates a token in Hashicorp Terraform Cloud and pastes it once. Everyone else works through Share with, and never sees it.

The credential is vaulted. Nobody reads it back, not even the AI.

Use cases

What teams do with Hashicorp Terraform Cloud through Elaichi

Every one of these runs inside the access the person already has, and lands in the same audit log.

  • Platform

Lock a workspace before a risky change

Ask the agent to lock a Hashicorp Terraform Cloud workspace while you investigate a problem, then unlock it once the change is safe. Nobody can queue a run against it in the meantime.

  • DevOps

Spin up a workspace for a new service

Create a Hashicorp Terraform Cloud workspace with the right name and settings when a team starts a new project, and assign the SSH key it needs to pull private modules.

  • Security

Review who belongs to which team

List every team in a Hashicorp Terraform Cloud organization and see the details of each before an access review, without clicking through the console one team at a time.

  • Compliance

Check and set data retention policies

Ask what the data retention policy is on each Hashicorp Terraform Cloud organization, then create or update the ones that fall short of your standard.

  • SRE

Clear a stuck lock after a failed run

When a run dies and leaves a Hashicorp Terraform Cloud workspace locked, force unlock it from chat and get on with the fix instead of hunting for the button.

  • IT

Find every workspace across all organizations

Pull a single list of Hashicorp Terraform Cloud workspaces across every organization your account can see, with the settings on each, in one question.

Try asking

  • “Which workspaces in the platform organization are currently locked?”
  • “Create a workspace called payments-prod and assign the deploy SSH key.”
  • “List every team in our production organization.”

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I connect Hashicorp Terraform Cloud to Claude?

Connect Hashicorp Terraform Cloud in Elaichi by pasting a Terraform Cloud API token, then in Claude go to Customize, then Connectors, then Add, and paste https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp. There is no OAuth application to register and no client ID or secret to generate. The whole thing takes a few minutes.

Does Hashicorp Terraform Cloud work with ChatGPT and Cursor as well as Claude?

Yes. Once Hashicorp Terraform Cloud is connected in Elaichi, the same endpoint, https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp, works in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, any MCP client and the Elaichi Agent. You connect it once and every client picks it up.

What can an AI agent actually do with my Hashicorp Terraform Cloud data?

An agent can list and look up your Hashicorp Terraform Cloud organizations, workspaces, teams and accounts, create new workspaces and teams, lock, unlock or force unlock a workspace, assign or remove an SSH key, and view or change an organization's data retention policy. Because there are hundreds of actions, short concrete asks like lock the staging workspace work better than long sentences.

Does connecting Hashicorp Terraform Cloud give the AI access to every organization and workspace?

No. An agent working through Hashicorp Terraform Cloud only sees the organizations, workspaces and teams the signed-in person's token can already reach. Elaichi can narrow that access further with roles and restrictions, and it can never widen it beyond what Terraform Cloud itself allows.

Can my team share one Hashicorp Terraform Cloud connection?

Yes. One person connects Hashicorp Terraform Cloud in Elaichi and shares it with a team, and nobody else ever handles the API token. Each teammate still signs in to Elaichi as themselves, so the audit log names the actual person behind every workspace lock or team change.

Can I stop an agent from deleting or changing things in Hashicorp Terraform Cloud?

Yes. Restrictions in Elaichi work per action, so you can allow listing and locking Hashicorp Terraform Cloud workspaces while blocking anything that deletes an organization or changes a password. A blocked action is never advertised to the AI client at all, so no prompt can reach it.

What happens to a Hashicorp Terraform Cloud connection when someone leaves?

Offboarding a person in Elaichi ends their access to Hashicorp Terraform Cloud through every client at once. A connection they shared keeps working for everyone else on the team. If you want it gone entirely, disconnecting Hashicorp Terraform Cloud once in Elaichi removes it from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and every other client together.

Does the Hashicorp Terraform Cloud MCP connector work with Gemini, Codex, Claude Code or other MCP clients?

Yes. Hashicorp Terraform Cloud is reached over the same MCP endpoint every client uses, so anything that speaks MCP can call it — Gemini, Codex, Claude Code, Windsurf, Cline, Zed and OpenCode among them — alongside Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and the Elaichi Agent. The tools on offer and the access behind them are identical whichever client asks. Only the setup screen differs.

Is Elaichi an alternative to Zapier MCP for Hashicorp Terraform Cloud?

Yes. Both let Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor use Hashicorp Terraform Cloud. Zapier MCP fits a team that already automates in Zapier, since each person signs in and acts as themselves in that account. Elaichi fits when IT wants one address for the whole company, per-tool rules by role, and a record of every Hashicorp Terraform Cloud call.

How is Elaichi different from Composio for Hashicorp Terraform Cloud?

Composio gives AI agents tools and sign-in handling across 1,000+ apps, for developers building agents or people using an assistant, billed per tool call. Elaichi gives a company's own people governed access to Hashicorp Terraform Cloud: one address, restrictions per role or user, and $15 per user per month. Both have role permissions and a log of every call.
