Plastiq MCP connector

The Plastiq connector lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client look up billers, recipients and payments in Plastiq, send payments and refunds, and record every action under the signed-in person's own access.

  • How it connects. Connects with an API key. The credential goes into a vault nobody reads back.

  • One address. https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp, the same for every user.

  • Their own access. An agent never gets more than the person it acts for.

How to connect

How to connect Plastiq to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor

Two steps, about a minute.

1

In Elaichi

Connect Plastiq once

  1. Open Connections, choose Add connection, and pick Plastiq.

  2. Optionally set Share with to give a team access, then press Connect.

  3. Paste a Plastiq API key. One person generates a token in Plastiq and pastes it once. Everyone else works through Share with, and never sees it.

The credential is vaulted. Nobody reads it back, not even the AI.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I connect Plastiq to Claude?

Connect Plastiq in Elaichi first. Plastiq connects with an API key, so you paste the key from your Plastiq account when Elaichi asks for it, and there is no client ID or secret to generate. Then in Claude go to Customize, then Connectors, then Add, and paste https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp as the endpoint. Claude asks you to sign in to Elaichi, and Plastiq is available from then on.

Does Plastiq work with ChatGPT and Cursor as well as Claude?

Yes. Once Plastiq is connected in Elaichi, the same endpoint, https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp, works in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, any other MCP client and the Elaichi Agent. You connect Plastiq once and every client uses it.

What can an AI agent actually do with my Plastiq data?

An agent connected to Plastiq can search billers, list recipients and payment methods, look up a payment by its ID, and create new payments, payment intents and refunds. It can also add or update recipients and payers, upload documents such as invoices, and browse categories. In practice that means asking who was paid this month, paying a bill by card, or setting up a new vendor, all in plain language.

Does connecting Plastiq give the AI access to every payment and payment method?

No. Every call to Plastiq runs under the API key of the person who connected it, so the agent can only see and do what that Plastiq account can. Elaichi can narrow that further with restrictions per action, and it never widens what the Plastiq account already allows.

Can my team share one Plastiq connection?

Yes. One person connects Plastiq in Elaichi and shares the connection with a team, and nobody else ever handles the API key. Each teammate still signs in to Elaichi as themselves, so the audit log names the person who created a payment or refund, not the person who connected Plastiq.

Can I stop an agent from creating payments or refunds in Plastiq?

Yes. Restrictions in Elaichi work per action, so you can allow looking up Plastiq billers and payments while blocking the creation of payments, refunds or payment methods. A blocked action is never advertised to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor at all, so no prompt can reach it.

What happens to a Plastiq connection when someone leaves?

When a person is offboarded in Elaichi, their access to Plastiq through every client ends at once. A Plastiq connection that was shared with a team keeps working for everyone else on that team. If you want Plastiq gone entirely, disconnecting it once in Elaichi removes it from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and every other client.

Does the Plastiq MCP connector work with Gemini, Codex, Claude Code or other MCP clients?

Yes. Plastiq is reached over the same MCP endpoint every client uses, so anything that speaks MCP can call it — Gemini, Codex, Claude Code, Windsurf, Cline, Zed and OpenCode among them — alongside Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and the Elaichi Agent. The tools on offer and the access behind them are identical whichever client asks. Only the setup screen differs.

Is Elaichi an alternative to Zapier MCP for Plastiq?

Yes. Both let Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor use Plastiq. Zapier MCP fits a team that already automates in Zapier, since each person signs in and acts as themselves in that account. Elaichi fits when IT wants one address for the whole company, per-tool rules by role, and a record of every Plastiq call.

How is Elaichi different from Composio for Plastiq?

Composio gives AI agents tools and sign-in handling across 1,000+ apps, for developers building agents or people using an assistant, billed per tool call. Elaichi gives a company's own people governed access to Plastiq: one address, restrictions per role or user, and $15 per user per month. Both have role permissions and a log of every call.
