Asana MCP connector
The Asana connector brings your tasks, subtasks, comments, tags, and workspaces into Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any MCP client, so each person can create, update, and follow up on Asana work inside their own access.
-
How it connects. OAuth or API key. The credential goes into a vault nobody reads back.
-
One address. https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp, the same for every user.
-
Their own access. An agent never gets more than the person it acts for.

Use cases
What teams do with Asana through Elaichi
Every one of these runs inside the access the person already has, and lands in the same audit log.
-
Operations
Turn a meeting into Asana tasks
Paste your notes after a planning call and have the tasks created in the right project, each with an assignee, a due date, and the follow-ups added as subtasks.
-
Marketing
Catch a campaign task up after a review
Ask for the launch task to be updated with the new date, a comment summarizing what changed, and a tag so the rest of the team can spot it in their lists.
-
Product
Find every open task carrying a tag
Ask which tasks tagged for the next release are still open, who owns them, and what the latest comment on each one says, without opening every board.
-
Support
Log a customer escalation as a task
Describe the problem a customer reported and have a task created for the engineering team, with the reproduction steps written up as subtasks and the ticket details in a comment.
-
People
Add a new hire to the right workspace
On someone's first day, add them to the Asana workspace and duplicate the onboarding checklist so their first-week tasks are waiting for them.
-
Project management
Duplicate a project template for the next client
Duplicate the standard kickoff task and its subtasks for a new engagement, then set owners and dates in the same request rather than copying items one by one.
Try asking
- “List my overdue tasks in the Q3 Launch project.”
- “Which Asana tags are used most this quarter?”
- “Show tasks assigned to me across both workspaces.”

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How do I connect Asana to Claude?
Connect Asana in Elaichi first: you either sign in to Asana in your browser and allow access, or paste an Asana personal access token, and there is no client ID or secret to generate. Then in Claude open Customize, then Connectors, then Add, and paste https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp. Sign in as yourself when Claude asks, and your Asana tasks, comments, and tags are available in the conversation.
Does Asana work with ChatGPT and Cursor as well as Claude?
Yes. Once Asana is connected in Elaichi, the same endpoint, https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp, works in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, any other MCP client, and the Elaichi Agent. You connect Asana once and every client you use picks it up.
What can an AI agent actually do with my Asana data?
With Asana connected, an agent can list and read your tasks, create new tasks and subtasks, update assignees, due dates, and descriptions, duplicate a task with its subtasks, and add or read the comments on a task. It can also manage tags, look up people in your workspace, and add or remove members from a workspace. Because Asana has a large set of actions, short concrete asks like "create a task in the launch project due Friday" work better than a long paragraph.
Does connecting Asana give the AI everything in my workspace?
No. When Asana is connected through Elaichi, every request runs as the person who signed in, so the agent only sees the Asana projects, tasks, and workspaces that person can already see. Elaichi can narrow that further with restrictions, but it can never widen it beyond what the person's own Asana account allows.
Can I stop an agent from deleting or changing things in Asana?
Yes. Restrictions in Elaichi apply per action, so you can allow reading and creating Asana tasks while blocking deletion, or blocking changes to workspaces and their members. A blocked action is never shown to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any other client at all, so no prompt can reach it.
What happens to an Asana connection when someone leaves?
When a person is offboarded in Elaichi, their access to Asana through every client ends at once. If they had shared their Asana connection with a team, it keeps working for everyone else on that team. Disconnecting Asana once in Elaichi removes it from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and every other client together.
Does the Asana MCP connector work with Gemini, Codex, Claude Code or other MCP clients?
Yes. Asana is reached over the same MCP endpoint every client uses, so anything that speaks MCP can call it — Gemini, Codex, Claude Code, Windsurf, Cline, Zed and OpenCode among them — alongside Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and the Elaichi Agent. The tools on offer and the access behind them are identical whichever client asks. Only the setup screen differs.
Is Elaichi an alternative to Zapier MCP for Asana?
Yes. Both let Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor use Asana. Zapier MCP fits a team that already automates in Zapier, since each person signs in and acts as themselves in that account. Elaichi fits when IT wants one address for the whole company, per-tool rules by role, and a record of every Asana call.
How is Elaichi different from Composio for Asana?
Composio gives AI agents tools and sign-in handling across 1,000+ apps, for developers building agents or people using an assistant, billed per tool call. Elaichi gives a company's own people governed access to Asana: one address, restrictions per role or user, and $15 per user per month. Both have role permissions and a log of every call.
