Strapi MCP connector

The Strapi connector brings your Strapi content entries, media library, users, and roles to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and the Elaichi Agent, so you can find, draft, and update content by asking, inside your own access.

  • How it connects. Connects with an API key. The credential goes into a vault nobody reads back.

  • One address. https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp, the same for every user.

  • Their own access. An agent never gets more than the person it acts for.

How to connect

How to connect Strapi to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor

Two steps, about a minute.

1

In Elaichi

Connect Strapi once

  1. Open Connections, choose Add connection, and pick Strapi.

  2. Optionally set Share with to give a team access, then press Connect.

  3. Paste a Strapi API key. One person generates a token in Strapi and pastes it once. Everyone else works through Share with, and never sees it.

The credential is vaulted. Nobody reads it back, not even the AI.

Use cases

What teams do with Strapi through Elaichi

Every one of these runs inside the access the person already has, and lands in the same audit log.

  • Content

Draft a new entry from a brief

Describe the article, landing page, or announcement you need and it lands in Strapi as a new entry, ready for an editor to review before it goes live.

  • Marketing

    Refresh copy across product pages

Ask which entries mention last quarter's pricing or an old product name, then have the wording updated entry by entry without opening each one in the Strapi admin.

  • Support

Check what the help center says

When a customer asks about a feature, pull the current Strapi entry for it and confirm what is published before replying, instead of guessing from memory.

  • Operations

    Onboard a new editor

Create the Strapi user account for someone joining the team, see which roles exist, and confirm what they will be able to do before their first day.

  • Web

    Tidy the media library

List the files in Strapi's upload library, spot duplicates and outdated images, and remove the ones nobody links to anymore.

  • Product

Find entries that have gone stale

Ask for the entries in a collection that have not changed in months and get a list to work through, with the details of any single one on request.

Try asking

  • “List documents created this week in Strapi”
  • “Draft a release note from the latest Strapi documents”
  • “Which upload files are unused across Strapi documents?”

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I connect Strapi to Claude?

First, connect Strapi in Elaichi by pasting an API token from your Strapi admin, the one you create under Settings and API Tokens. There is no OAuth application to register and no client ID or secret to generate. Then open Claude, go to Customize, then Connectors, then Add, and paste the endpoint https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp. Claude asks you to sign in to Elaichi, and from then on it works with Strapi as you.

Does Strapi work with ChatGPT and Cursor as well as Claude?

Yes. Once Strapi is connected in Elaichi, the same endpoint, https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp, works in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, any other MCP client, and the Elaichi Agent. You connect Strapi once and every client you use picks it up.

What can an AI agent actually do with my Strapi data?

An agent connected to Strapi can list your content entries, read a single one in full, create new entries, update existing ones, and delete them. It can also browse the media library, add or remove uploaded files, and look after Strapi users and roles, including creating accounts and checking who has which role. Because Strapi has a lot of actions available, short concrete asks like "update the pricing entry" work better than long paragraphs.

Does connecting Strapi give the AI access to everything in my Strapi project?

No. The AI works through the Strapi API token that was connected, so it can only reach the content types, media, and user records that token is allowed to see. Elaichi can narrow that further with restrictions on specific actions, but it can never grant more than the Strapi permissions already allow.

Can my team share one Strapi connection?

Yes. One person connects Strapi in Elaichi and shares the connection with a team, and nobody else ever handles the API token. Each teammate still signs in to Elaichi as themselves, so every change made in Strapi is recorded under the name of the person who asked for it.

Can I stop an agent from deleting or changing things in Strapi?

Yes. In Elaichi you can block individual Strapi actions, such as deleting entries, removing media files, or changing users, while leaving reading and drafting open. A blocked action is never shown to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any other client, so no prompt, accidental or otherwise, can reach it.

What happens to a Strapi connection when someone leaves?

Offboarding a person in Elaichi ends their access to Strapi through every client at once, with nothing to revoke inside Strapi itself. If they had shared their Strapi connection with a team, it keeps working for everyone else. When you want Strapi gone entirely, disconnecting it once in Elaichi removes it from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and every other client at the same time.

Does the Strapi MCP connector work with Gemini, Codex, Claude Code or other MCP clients?

Yes. Strapi is reached over the same MCP endpoint every client uses, so anything that speaks MCP can call it — Gemini, Codex, Claude Code, Windsurf, Cline, Zed and OpenCode among them — alongside Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and the Elaichi Agent. The tools on offer and the access behind them are identical whichever client asks. Only the setup screen differs.

Is Elaichi an alternative to Zapier MCP for Strapi?

Yes. Both let Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor use Strapi. Zapier MCP fits a team that already automates in Zapier, since each person signs in and acts as themselves in that account. Elaichi fits when IT wants one address for the whole company, per-tool rules by role, and a record of every Strapi call.

How is Elaichi different from Composio for Strapi?

Composio gives AI agents tools and sign-in handling across 1,000+ apps, for developers building agents or people using an assistant, billed per tool call. Elaichi gives a company's own people governed access to Strapi: one address, restrictions per role or user, and $15 per user per month. Both have role permissions and a log of every call.
