Monday.com MCP connector

The Monday.com connector lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any MCP client read boards, items, updates, docs, and files in Monday.com and create new items, with each person signed in as themselves and every action logged.

  • How it connects. OAuth or API key. The credential goes into a vault nobody reads back.

  • One address. https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp, the same for every user.

  • Their own access. An agent never gets more than the person it acts for.

Use cases

What teams do with Monday.com through Elaichi

Every one of these runs inside the access the person already has, and lands in the same audit log.

  • Operations

Find the item across every board

Ask where a request lives and get the Monday.com item back with its column values, the board it sits on, and the workspace it belongs to, without opening each board by hand.

  • Project management

Turn planning notes into board items

After a planning call, paste the notes and have new items created on the right Monday.com board, one per task, so the plan is on the board before the meeting room empties.

  • Support

Read the thread behind a request

Pull every update posted on a Monday.com item and get a short account of where the request stands and who spoke last before you reply to the customer.

  • Marketing

Pull the brief out of a doc

Read a campaign brief in Monday.com docs block by block and get the goals, dates, and owners summarized for someone who joined the project late.

  • People

See who sits on which team

List Monday.com workspaces, teams, and members to check that a new hire has landed in the right place and to see who to loop in on a board.

  • Design

Attach the final files to the item

Upload the approved artwork to the Monday.com item as an asset, or download the files already attached, so the reviewer works from the version on the board.

Try asking

  • “Which board items are overdue this week?”
  • “Summarize updates on the Q3 launch board.”
  • “Create a board item for the onboarding request.”

List all Monday.com board items List List items on a monday.com board using cursor-based pagination. Returns each item's id, name, state, created_at, updated_at, column_values, board, creator, subscribers, parent_item, email, and relative_link. Required: board_id.
Get single Monday.com board item by ID Get Get a single monday.com board item by id. Returns the item object including id, name, state, created_at, updated_at, column_values, assets, board, group, subitems, subscribers, creator, and relative_link. Required: id.
Create a Monday.com board item Create Create a new item on a monday.com board, optionally within a specific group and with pre-filled column values. Returns the new item's id. Required: board_id, name. REQUIRES A WRITE SCOPE. monday.com rejects create_item with 403 "User unauthorized to perform action" (UserUnauthorizedException) unless the connection carries boards:write. Reads such as boards.list and board-items.list work with read-only scopes, so a working read does NOT imply this will succeed. SILENT FAILURE - IMPORTANT. On that rejection monday.com still answers HTTP 200, carrying the error in the GraphQL errors array with data.create_item = null. Because this method reads data.create_item, the caller receives HTTP 200 with a null body and NO error. Treat a null response as a failure, not as success: verify by calling board-items.list for the board and confirming the item count rose. A successful call returns an object containing id.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I connect Monday.com to Claude?

Connect Monday.com in Elaichi first: either sign in to Monday.com in your browser and approve access, or paste an API key from your Monday.com profile. There is no OAuth application to register and no client ID or secret to generate. Then in Claude open Customize, then Connectors, then Add, and paste https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp. Sign in as yourself and Monday.com boards, items, docs, and updates are available in Claude.

Does Monday.com work with ChatGPT and Cursor as well as Claude?

Yes. Monday.com is connected once in Elaichi and the same endpoint, https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp, is added to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, any other MCP client, and the Elaichi Agent. Each person signs in as themselves in whichever client they use, and their Monday.com access follows them.

What can an AI agent actually do with my Monday.com data?

An agent can look across Monday.com workspaces and boards, find items and read their column values, read the updates posted on an item, and open docs block by block. It can create new items on a board and upload or download the files attached to items. It can also list the people, teams, and accounts in Monday.com so it knows who owns what.

Does connecting Monday.com give the AI everything in my account?

No. Every call to Monday.com runs inside the access of the person who signed in, so the agent sees only the workspaces, boards, and docs that person can already open in Monday.com. Elaichi can narrow that access further with restrictions, but it can never widen it beyond what Monday.com itself allows that person.

Can my team share one Monday.com connection?

Yes. One person connects Monday.com in Elaichi and shares the connection with a team, and nobody else handles an API key or signs in to Monday.com again. Each teammate still signs in to Elaichi as themselves, so every item created or file downloaded is logged under their own name.

Can I stop an agent from deleting or changing things in Monday.com?

Yes. Restrictions in Elaichi work per action, so you can allow reading Monday.com boards and creating items while blocking, for example, removing a Monday.com user. A blocked action is never advertised to Claude, ChatGPT, or any other client, so no prompt, however worded, can reach it.

What happens to a Monday.com connection when someone leaves?

Offboarding a person in Elaichi ends their access to Monday.com through every client at once. If they set up a connection shared with a team, that connection keeps working for everyone else on the team. Disconnecting Monday.com once in Elaichi removes it from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and every other client in a single step.

Does the Monday.com MCP connector work with Gemini, Codex, Claude Code or other MCP clients?

Yes. Monday.com is reached over the same MCP endpoint every client uses, so anything that speaks MCP can call it — Gemini, Codex, Claude Code, Windsurf, Cline, Zed and OpenCode among them — alongside Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and the Elaichi Agent. The tools on offer and the access behind them are identical whichever client asks. Only the setup screen differs.

Is Elaichi an alternative to Zapier MCP for Monday.com?

Yes. Both let Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor use Monday.com. Zapier MCP fits a team that already automates in Zapier, since each person signs in and acts as themselves in that account. Elaichi fits when IT wants one address for the whole company, per-tool rules by role, and a record of every Monday.com call.

How is Elaichi different from Composio for Monday.com?

Composio gives AI agents tools and sign-in handling across 1,000+ apps, for developers building agents or people using an assistant, billed per tool call. Elaichi gives a company's own people governed access to Monday.com: one address, restrictions per role or user, and $15 per user per month. Both have role permissions and a log of every call.
